Elbert County has been successful in blocking the creation of the landfill in the courts.

However, the Georgia Supreme Court recently ruled that the Georgia Court of Appeals

must rehear the case based on its merits rather than dismissing the case based on a

technicality. We anticipate a ruling in 2018 and feel confident that the Georgia Court of

Appeals will agree with the lower courts and rule in favor of Elbert County.

We want to continue putting pressure on the Landfill Developers, and block any new

attempts at a back alley route to success. They will not give up, even if they lose their

appeal.

Our goal is to continue to win the battle in the court of public opinion, keeping the public

and local politicians opposed to the Sweet City Landfill Project.
